That one is hard! I think my top choice would be Stargate SG-1 though. I think I’m most like Daniel Jackson, but I wouldn’t say no to being Samantha Carter. They kind of get the best of all the sci-fi options. Portals through space for instant transport and various space ships. Plus, humor and a great team connection is a must and they’ve got it down to perfection.

Second choice would be Lois Lane in Smallville. Tom Welling. Need I say more?

I’m currently watching the fourth season of SG1 . . . and I have to say, so far, my favorite episode is the “Groundhog Day” one—where they get stuck in a time loop and keep repeating six or twelve hours of the same day, but only Jack and Teal’c realize it. And once Daniel mentions that they could do whatever they wanted to, without consequences, things in the episode really take off, including the big kiss between Jack and Sam.

I would like to be in show “Merlin.” I would be a love interest for the character Merlin because so far, it does not seem like he has one. (I just started watching the beginning of season 3). I would be either an ordinary village girl who has no magic powers who loves him for who he is and not all the cool things he can do, or a princess from a far away land who is supposed to marry Arthur, but meets his servant and falls in love with him instead. (Yeah, I know that is probably not historically accurate, but hey, it’s just a show…)

“Merlin” is my favorite series that’s still on (with new episodes). I love the banter between Merlin and Arthur! And it’s much more family friendly than some other shows on … I love the medieval/fantasy type of things so to me, it’s the perfect show. I want to make costumes for my youngest brother and sister –he likes Merlin the best and she likes Morgana (that’s why she doesn’t want to watch this season …) 😉

You can watch seasons 1 and 2 on hulu.com for free!!! I actually need to catch up on the last half of season 2 myself …

I’d love to live in Mitford and know Father Tim and Cynthia and the rest of that gang. That area of NC is gorgeous too (it’s based on Blowing Rock). I’d like to be myself I suppose, but if I had to pick a character to become perhaps it would be Hope, who owns the bookstore, Happy Endings. I could see Hope becoming a writer. 🙂

Lori, I love the Mitford books. I live in NC and know and have seen people just like those book characters. My neighbor could step right out of the pages of those books and the Andy Griffith Show.

I guess I would like to be Anne of Green Gables. Her life wasn’t so hunky-dory before she came to Green Gables, but Avonlea, Redmond College, Windy Poplars, Four Points, Gilbert, six children, a lighthouse, the ocean, friends, family, God…. For what more could one ask?

Kaye, did you see my posts on Wednesday’s blog post? I replied to a couple of your questions there.

Sylvia, I’m enamored of North Carolina. I’ve never lived there, but that’s where my family took many of our summer vacations and it’s where I spent my honeymoon (Outer Banks). I’ve set one of my novels there (Asheboro area), and now my new novel starts off there (Morganton). I’ve been back to those areas for research trips, and on one I spent a little time in Blowing Rock, just because it’s the Mitford template.

The mountains of North Carolina are one of the few places I can envision living one day. But I love where I’m at too. Lots of mountains here.

Oh, I’ve been to Asheboro lots of times, Blowing Rock once or twice and the Outer Banks once. It’s a great state to live in. You get everything. There’s the coast if you like swimming or fishing, the mountains if you like hiking/relaxing/beautiful leaves, larger cities, small towns, a little snow in winter, barbecue, sweet tea, southern accents. It’s just right. I wasn’t born here, but have lived here 25 of my almost 30 years. Hopefully, I can claim it as home.

I look forward to reading your books when they are published. Please let us all know when it happens. 🙂

I’d enter the world of my own books any day (well, maybe not Ransome’s Quest), but if I had to pick someone else’s fictional world, it would have to be as Lothíriel (whom Éomer married, according to the appendices) in the world of Lord of the Rings. After all, the only fan fiction I’ve ever written is the story of Éomer and Lothíriel, through and after the events that are detailed in the three books.

I think it was a good decision to leave him out…in the grand scheme of the story of the films, he wasn’t an important character. But in the book—and for the setup of what happens after the book (in the appendices) he is important.

My copies of TT and ROTK are highlighted and Post-it Noted just like a college textbook from back when I was working on that fan fiction!

I never really cared much for either Eowyn or Faramir . . . until I saw the third move in the theater (opening night—it was an absolute ZOO), and saw that one, quick shot of the two of them standing there together at the coronation. They exchanged a look and my heart leapt—and I went home and pulled out my (then unread) copy of ROTK and found the chapter “The Steward and the King”:

‘I do not know what is happening. The reason of my waking mind tells me that great evil has befallen and we stand at the end of days. But my heart says nay; and all my limbs are light, and a hope and joy are come to me that no reason can deny. Eowyn, Eowyn, White Lady of Rohan, this hour I do not believe that any darkness will endure!’ And [Faramir] stooped and kissed her brow.

And so they stood on the walls of the City of Gondor, and a great wind rose and blew, and their hair, raven and golden, streamed out mingling in the air. And the Shadow departed, and the Sun was unveiled, and light leaped forth; and the waters of Anduin shone like silver. . . .

That was the first scene I looked for when my extended edition DVD arrived, and the first one I watched!

More like “BSG”/”ST: Voyager” wannabe … I also couldn’t believe they canceled SGA so quickly … I mean, SG-1 ran for about 10 seasons –it seems unfair that SGA had to go at 5 … If they ran SGA and SGU together for a couple of seasons, I think the bad blood between the fans and producers could have been adverted and it wouldn’t have seemed like SGU was replacing SGA … kind of like what they did when SGA came out … or like how they did in the Star Trek franchise … DS9 introduced when TNG was still on the air, Voyager introduced while DS9 was still in production, etc.

Frankly, it was hard to bond with SGU characters … they all seemed to have “issues” and flaws that really … it was different from previous Stargate characters. Plus it seemed to be trying to push the boundary of the previous “Stargates” by being more “edgy” –whether with the characters lifestyles or actions … =( The mood and setting seemed to want to convey the BSG reboot (which, although I didn’t care for it, won over modern critics and many new fans, re-invigorating BSG fandom) and the constant clashes between the military and civilians, plus the fact that they were stranded together in another galaxy, having to work together to try and get back home, is similar to the “Star Trek Voyager” (Starfleet and Marquis [sp?]).

However, the only thing worse than no SGA is no Stargate as well … unfortunately, SGU is being canceled at a point where it seems like they’re finally starting to get along and beginning to work together … not a whole lot of constant clashing like season 1. If they had run SGU with SGA for a bit –just long enough to let SGU kind of “find its feet”– I think we’d be in a very different situation right now.

(In honor of my favorite SGU character, Eli Wallace, LOL.) =D
