What book(s) did you finish reading (or listening to) since the last update?

A Sword Upon The Rose (Scottish Medieval #3) by Brenda Joyce (What started out as a possible 3-star read quickly devolved into a 1-star DNF for me. Click the title to see my review on Goodreads.)

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen, audiobook read by Frances Barber (my Annual Austen pick for 2015)

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, audiobook read by Sissy Spacek. (3 stars; I figured with the sequel coming out, it was probably time for me to go ahead and read this one—no, I didn’t have to read it for school. I was underwhelmed and, for the most part, bored by it.)

Mortal Heart (His Fair Assassin, #3) by Robin LaFevers (3.5 to 3.75 stars. Definitely the weakest in the trilogy. Full review at the link on Goodreads.)

Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace by Terry Brooks, audiobook read by Alexander Adams (3.75 stars. Click through for review.)

The Shy Duchess by Amanda McCabe (3 stars. I just finished this one over the weekend, so I haven’t had a chance to review it yet. I tried another book by this author a couple of years ago, and it was a 1-star DNF for me. But the story of this one sounded really good, so I decided to give her another shot. Well . . . at least I managed to finish this one. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either.)

What are you currently reading and/or listening to?

Jillaroo (His Fair Assassin, Book 3) by Rachael Treasure, audiobook read by Miranda Nation. Apparently Treasure is known as the queen of “rural fiction” in Australia, and it’s interesting to read contemporary Australian fiction written by a native and not an American who’s never been there (speaking as an American who’s written books set in places I’ve never visited, like England and Jamaica).

Not sure what my next book will be . . .

What’s the next book on your To Be Read stack/list?
These are the library/Kindle Unlimited books I currently have on my Kindle:

Never Less Than a Lady (The Lost Lords #2) by Mary Jo Putney

By Darkness Hid (Blood of Kings #1) by Jill Williamson

My Fair Concubine (Tang Dynasty #3) by Jeannie Lin

Any Witch Way You Can (Wicked Witches of the Midwest #1) by Amanda M. Lee

Here’s what I read in July. July Books

I’m currently reading a cozy mystery called State of the Onion by Julie Hyzy. Also, I’m reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. That one will take a long time to read. Up next is another mystery, set in the Victorian age, called A Death in the Small Hours by Charles Finch.
