Boys. =P Just kidding … they don’t know I exist. Books, but mostly my computer distracts me with all the ways you can communicate with others when you should be doing homework –and even things like that distract me from Christ … I used to read at least one Bible chapter a day in high school. Now, I’m lucky if I read (on my own) twice a week. I need to prioritize in a better way …

The internet is my biggest distraction. Between blogging, FB, twitter…it is crazy. I just culled my google reader and I’m not so overwhelmed. Whew!

    What is yours?

I think Twitter has been my biggest distraction with Facebook being a close 2nd. Oh, ok…and reading peoples’ blogs. I get very distracted by blogs!

Internet hands down. My older sister only checks her e-mail twice a day. I, on the other hand, check mine every couple of hours or so. It’s just so easy to get on and browse around, check blogs, message boards, and everything else.

Internet. But I’m working to use it wisely. I seem to have this rhythm where I can work intensely on my WIP for about a half hour, sometimes longer. Then I need to come up for air, take a short mental break. Checking FB is a good way to accomplish that. But I have to be firm with myself and check just FB. Or read ONE blog in my line up. Or check email only. Then it’s back to work.

There’s definitely a theme going here, isn’t there? Internet (FB, Twitter, email, mostly) sucks time and has become a mindless activity for me. Mainly because when I’m at work, I keep my email up, and can check different things as they come up, between tasks. It’s become a habit that’s bled over into writing-time, unfortunately.

My cat who meows and bats my arm to draw my attention away from the computer, then begs to be petted, or fed, or wants to play ball. How can I ignore those big green eyes?

No question, the internet. Every morning my e-mail accounts (yes I have three) are full of blog updates, e-mails, etc. By the time I plow through everything before and after my full-time job, who has time to write! It’s extremely frustrating, but my own fault.

Without a doubt Facebook! [When I (hand) wrote this version of my novel, I shut off my computer for a month (saved $50 off the power bill lol). Only a handful of FB friends noticed my absence.]
And to a lesser extent: reading books, solitaire, browsing news headlines on Yahoo.
Now that I have a Kindle, Amazon’s top 100 free list and the Kindle Book Lending Club take up time as I look for more books to lend/borrow.

On a side note, thanks for your conference preparation series. I’m about to attend my first one and found answers to most of my questions. 🙂
