It’s so hard to choose the perfect fictional guy, there are so many good ones, but I think I’d have to choose Clark Kent as played by Tom Welling on Smallville. Not just because he makes me weak in the knees either. He’s a perfect mix of guy next door and bad boy with a real sense of right and wrong. He stands for what he believes in, isn’t afraid of sacrifice, is loyal to those he loves, and protects the innocent. Justice isn’t just for those he likes. He’s a little tortured, but his pain makes him more aware of other’s pain and that makes him sympathetic. Overall he has a big heart, broad shoulders and just the tiniest hint of being a little bit of a nerd at heart. Wow. I’d be his Lois in a heartbeat.

Clark Kent in any form is great but I must confess that Dean Cain was my favorite Clark. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been able to truly appreciate Smallville because he just isn’t Dean 😉

Dean Cain was awesome, I still love his take on Superman. Lois and Clark and Smallville set such different tones for the story. I’m kind of a sucker for the emotional undercurrents more prominent in Smallville. I think they’ve made Clark Kent a much more realistic character. Doesn’t hurt that Tom Welling is the most beautiful man alive right now either. 🙂

It’s so hard to choose, but I guess I would say the Tom in the Million Dollar Mystery series by Mindy Starns Clark. Each book builds on the previous book in that series, so you HAVE to read them in order. The characters and lessons in this series are so powerful that you just want more of them after the 5-book series ends. Can I choose two? My other one would have to be Shiloh Irons in the Cheney Duvall, M.D. series by Gilbert and Lynn Morris.

Well this is a tough call. If we are talking about fictional characters in TV shows, right now I’d probably go with Danno in Hawaii Five-O. If we’re talking about books…well that can change depending on whatever I happen to be reading at the time. Though some literary crushes of long-standing include Marcus from A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers, Sir Percy Blakeney from The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, Mr. Darcy (of course!), and Rochester from Jane Eyre.

Excellent choices, Ruth. Marcus from A Voice in the Wind was a marvelously developed character, probably my favorite from all the Francine Rivers novels, although you can’t go wrong with Hosea in Redeeming Love. As an early teen, I crushed on Jim from the Trixie Belden novels, but then I grew up & liked Mr. Rochester.

I just finished Audra Harder’s first novel, ROCKY MOUNTAIN HERO, and I still have a crush on her hero, “Gabe.” Sigh. He’s a cowboy who helps a damsel in distress. Who can resist that? But then, if I don’t have a crush on the hero by the end of the book, I’m not sure it was a good romance. Some I’ve had crushes on in the past are law enforcement agents, lawyers, chefs, personal assistants keeping a deep, dark, secret . . . 😉 And I love ’em all.

Even though I know the third miniseries was really out in left field as far as story was concerned, that was the first time when Gilbert really started growing on me.

As for ABA fiction… I’m going with Roger MacKenzie, from Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series. A black-haired, green-eyed historian, a singer who can wow a crowd at Celtic Festivals, a Scottish lad who comes off a plane looking like a pirate with a guitar, who (after a bit of time travel lag, a brush with a real pirate, and a stint as a captive of the Iroquois) manages to stand up to his fierce 18th century warrior father-in-law, learns to fight with a sword, protect his family on the frontier, overcomes the loss of his beautiful voice, and THEN answers a call from God to become a minister? I’d also have to choose John Murphy from Bodie Thoene’s Zion Covenant series, and Brett Holden from Linda Chaikin’s Arabian series.

Now I find myself wanting to re-read those books.

I almost started re-reading Vienna Prelude a couple of weeks ago. I’m so looking forward to the new book that comes out in March.
