It’s a Dog’s Life

Today’s post is going to be something just for fun . . . because I’m about to head out to Lake Ouachita with my parents to spend the afternoon on their boat (and while they’re fishing, I’ll be working on a freelance editing project while basking in the 70-degree sun!).

So I wanted to give y’all a post that’ll make getting another comment toward the contest easy. If you could be any animal in the world, which one would you be and why?

I’d be the dog pictured above—Missy, my parents’ Schnauzer. She sleeps all day, gets fed lots of good stuff from my dad’s plate at every meal, and can come and go inside/outside as she pleases. It really is a dog’s life.

What about you?

I would want to be a dolphin. I think it would be so fun! They are beautiful, and they can swim really fast, and they can make bubble rings! Yay for bubble rings!
The only thing I would not like would be eating raw fish. Yuck.
    Have fun on the boat!

It would be between a dog and a cat – both of them have a bit more freedom than most pets I would think. Cats have more liberty to be independent though and alone {which right now I love having alone time or quiet time!}.

But dogs…they get the loving and the car rides ~ fun all the time! πŸ™‚

It would be a toss up for me. Definitely not a bird…little cage. No room to fly around.

I would be my own cat, Bugaboo. He’s a three-year-old male marble Bengal (pictures of him as a kitten). Bengals are the best cats in the world – friendly, hypo-allergenic, luxuriously soft, love water, playful (they even play fetch!). Bugaboo is very loved. He spends his days moving from one nap spot to the next. He gets to drink running water out of the bathtub tap whenever he asks. He plays with toys and with his brother-nephew, our other Bengal, Bungalow. (Yes, brother-nephew. They have the same father but Bugaboo’s mother is Bungalow’s grandmother. How’s that for a family tree?) He eats fancy catfood and sleeps curled up with me at night. Sometimes I envy a cat’s life, especially Bugaboo’s. I wish my daily agenda were:
    -wake up
    -eat
    -play
    -nap
    -wander around
    -nap
    -eat
    -nap
    -sleep

Hmm…it would be cool to be one of my dogs, because then I could be the recipient of my own love. But Pippin is afraid of everything and Chewbacca is super needy. So that would be no fun.
So I’ll say that falcon that lived on top of one of those famous apartment buildings near Central Park. Living on the most expensive land on earth, rent-free. Being friends with Yoko. And being able to fly faster than cheetahs can run.

Is it a cop out to say NONE? I don’t want to be an animal, I want to be a human! I have my own choices, no one puts me in a kenel or a cage (or they shouldn’t anyway… LOL) No one forces a human to be spayed/nuetered (If I spelled that wrong, whoops!) I like to be able to get my own food without having to wait, and speaking of food, that dog/cat food crud? No thanks!

No, I’m very content in my human state, thank you! *grin*

A tiger. All the joys of being a cat (sleeping 18 hours a day; speed; agility; one heck of a vertical leap) plus the respect of the little animals. Not to mention the great orange/black stripes!

I would definitely want to be a dog, specifically a collie like my puppy Coco. If I could just learn to make those sad brown eyes, I could get whatever I wanted! I could also stick my head out of my convertible and nobody would think I’m crazy and everybody would love me cause really…who doesn’t love a nice dog? BTW Missy is a sweetie πŸ™‚

Oh, my. I don’t know. I’ve thought it might be nice to be a three-toed sloth, but then I think when I need to hurry, I’d get frustrated. πŸ™‚ Perhaps my old roommate’s cat Clarence. He has a good life. πŸ™‚

I would have to say…..an older, single female celebrity’s dog. They really, really love and pamper their dogs.

    Joan Rivers perhaps.
    Elizabeth Taylor perhaps.
    Barbara Walters perhaps.

I guess I’d lean towards Elizabeth Taylor ~ sunny Southern CA vs. NYC…and the collars and leashes encrusted with jewels!
