“Say What?” Continutes Next Week
Thursday, October 16, 2008
As can often happen, sometimes life gets in the way of blogging. I’ve been trying to drum up more freelance work this week as well as finishing up some other projects that have been sitting on my desk for a while, so unfortunately, the blog has suffered my inattention. But next week, the dialogue series will continue—and we’ll be discussing dialogue tags, subtexting, character quirks, and non-verbal dialogue.
Have a great Thursday!

Good luck with drumming up business, Kaye. Glad you stopped in to update us. I was starting to worry about you.
And about that freelance work. Are you planning to put some information up on this site about what service you are offering, cost, etc.? I keep waiting to see it. Or are you just freelancing for the houses?

Kaye,
I wondering too! Glad you are well and keeping busy. I second Eileen’s question. 🙂
Lori (who can’t wait for tomorrow night because she’s been looking forward to CRUSOE for weeks and even read the book and probably has her expectations up WAY too high but still….)

Right now, I’m just working for the publishing houses. Depending on how that goes, I may eventually have to put up something here, so stay tuned.

Lori–
I’m going into Crusoe with limited expectations, given a couple of reviews I’ve read. But it has Sean Bean in it, so that has to be a plus, right?
But I have given up on Heroes after this week’s episode. I just don’t like the direction it’s going.

Kaye,
I just wanted to drop a note and tell you how great this series has been (We’ve been moving so I wasn’t able to get to commenting…). It has been a lot of help! Thanks…and looking forward to the rest!

Kaye, I haven’t read any reviews of Crusoe. This is one I wanted to go into without any outside opinions influencing me. Reviews are like gossip. They affect my perception of whatever is being reviewed, for good or bad, no matter if eventually I wind up with a different opinion after the fact. If they’re negative, they taint what might have been a lot more innocent enjoyment. I liken it to meeting a person you’ve heard something bad about. I can’t help but be looking for it, expecting it, wary of it; even on some subconscious level, my guard’s up. Sometimes I read reviews, if I don’t care so much. But when I do care, I don’t. 🙂

PS: my husband, who used watch Heroes, gave up on it to for the same reason. He said it’s becoming like Alias, where the good guys were suddenly revealed to be bad guys, and characters drop bomb shells like, “I’m not the person you think I am, I’m actually [fill in the blank].”
Aren’t you glad Lost has a plot outline and can’t go too far off track now?
