Costume Drama Thursday: Upcoming Costume Dramas I Want to See
Thursday, October 28, 2010
Here are some trailers for new/upcoming costume dramas I really want to see. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but those that readily came to mind.
Downton Abbey
From Time to Time
The First Men in the Moon
The Three Musketeers
(Not a trailer, but photos from the film shoot)
The King’s Speech
The Tudors: Season 4
Sherlock: The Blind Banker (PBS, October 31)
Sherlock: The Great Game (PBS, November 7)
(Okay, so these are contemporary and not historical/costume dramas, but I couldn’t resist including them. Watch the first episode, “A Study in Pink” and specific previews here for the remaining two episodes.)

Looking forward to From Time to Time. Starting to think I’ll never see it in a theater… unless it’s been and gone? The King’s Speech looks great too.
I’ll confess, I tried to watch the new Sherlock Holmes. I quit after about 30 minutes. I’m not much of a Holmes fan, but I do like BC, so thought I’d give it a go.
I just watch that Hawaiian movie, Princess Ka’iulani, which qualifies as a costume drama, set in the late 1800s. It was okay. A bit slow in spots but interesting history. The 30 min documentary was just as interesting though, and contained some of the best movie clips.

Sorry you couldn’t get into Sherlock. I absolutely adored it. 🙂
I saw Princess Ka’iulani too, just haven’t reviewed it yet. I agree, not a *great* film but the history was fascinating.

Have you seen Wives and Daughters and Cranford? They’re really good and they’re kind of like Jane Austen.
