What Would You Do?

Thursday, February 25, 2010

I think we’re all in need of a little de-stressing. And dreaming is a good way to do that. So, if you could stop the world and do one totally selfish thing today—no worrying about expense, distance, childcare, etc.—what would you do?

I’m actually doing it March 8—I’ll be getting a wonderful, relaxing hour-long massage!

I would either go and spend a week relaxing at Blackberry Farms Spa or I would spend a week at a posh beach resort with a big stack of books and a vat of SPF 900. 🙂

A friend of mine used to work for Blackberry Farms…she always spoke very highly of the customer service there!

Lie in a hammock on some beach, somewhere, with drinks and snacks magically appearing on a regular basis. I’ll bring my own reading material. 🙂

My dad is getting older, and has always wanted to go to Ireland and England. Our family is really into geneology, and several years ago they discovered that we still have relatives living at the ancestral manor in England. I would love to take my family on a trip to England to see our ancestral manor, then stay at a castle in Ireland, then take a European cruise along the coast to see other great places in Europe. During the trip, we would all be pampered, go to spas, and see places we’ve always talked about seeing. This may not sound like something self-indulgent, but I cherish time with my dad and would love to see him enjoy himself and do things he’s never taken the time or money to do for himself. My sons and son-in-law have spent the last several years serving deployments in Iraq, so it would be nice for all of us to travel for fun that has nothing to do with an army base. It would be a treat for all of us to travel together with no one in uniform or headed back to a war zone.

Sleep. I would sleep alllllll day, undisturbed by toddlers spreading honey all over the house (happened this morning) and cats vomiting (also happened this morning) and work that I really need to be doing.

I must be really excited if my no-holds-barred fantasy involves simply sleep.
