What’s the Worst Hairstyle You’ve Ever Had?
Thursday, August 13, 2009
I ran across this article in the New York Times this morning, about the trend in young men’s hair:

It got me started thinking about all the hairstyles I’ve had over the years. Seeing as how I never truly gave in to fashion and went totally punk or totally “fanged” (you know, big hair, even bigger bangs of the late 1980s/early 1990s), I’d have to say that my worst hairstyle choice ever was when I was in ninth grade and sported a style that today would be called a mullet:

So what’s the worst hairstyle fad you’ve ever given into?

If that’s your worse hairstyle, you’re in pretty good shape. My worse hairstyle was the result of a tragic coloring experience. I have no idea how it happened but I ended up with orange, yes, orange hair. Then I was called up to the school to meet with the principal when my son got in trouble. I didn’t have time to fix it so I put on my navy blue floppy sinter hat. I was a real showpiece. I sat there utterly humiliated and horrified not only at my son’s indiscretion, but wondering what kind of kook the man thought I was.

The permed poof of a hairdo I had back in highschool – puffy bangs and all. 🙂 {shudder}
Looking back at pictures is not so fun!

Oh, wow. Those guys’ hair is SO SICK. There’s such a shortage of good old-fashioned clean-cut guys. 😉
I never had much of bad hair…minus REALLY THICK bangs as a kid…but my parents grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, and Dad had the big hair while Mom was an absolute carbon copy of Farrah Fawcett. Nothing too over-the-top, I guess. Wait, my dad did feather his for a while.

Oh wow have I had some BAD hair! I guess the worst was in college in the mid 80’s. I had shaved sides with a spiked top (not long and spiky enough to be a mohawk) and a long rattail that I sprayed hair color on depending on my mood/clothes (anyone remember spray, washout hair color?). Sometimes I would braid the rattail. Or I would spray it one color and the spiky top another color. What a blessing that there is no photographic evidence.
