Pop Open the Champagne!

Woohoo! A Case for Love has been turned in! And I think I like it. I definitely like the ending. I wasn’t certain enough (and didn’t really have enough time) to write an epilogue—any time I started to, it felt forced, too cutesy. Plus it leaves the door open in case we ever decide to revisit Bonneterre and the Guidry family.
And today is the official release date for Menu for Romance and Ransome’s Honor. I’ve received copies of both from Amazon (yes, I pre-order one copy of each of my books from them so I know when they’ve shipped). Ransome came yesterday, and Menu arrived just a couple of hours ago. (And I still haven’t received my author copies of Ransome, which is starting to annoy me, since I know several people are awaiting copies of it from me.)
However, I know they haven’t hit shelves everywhere yet, but hopefully by this weekend they’ll be out everywhere (including MFR at Sam’s and Wal-Mart!).
Here’s another chance for someone to win a copy of Menu or Ransome’s Honor:

So I thought to celebrate their official “birthday,” I’d share the review that Menu received in the July issue of Romantic Times:
Dacus’ latest novel in the Brides of Bonneterre series is filled with love, hidden secrets and a haunted past. Drawing back the curtains on two families, the author provides a touching story that uncovers the flaws behind one seemingly perfect family, and the devastating effects of a tightly hidden secret on another. Dacus weaves together a story that penetrates your heart and provides hope for the darkest situation. ~Reviewed by Jennifer Reyes

I still haven’t gotten my copy of Ransome, but I got Menu today. Weird. Not that I’m complaining or anything though, LOL!!!!!
I was wondering about an epilogue to Case…if it would be weird or something since the books are a series, but they stand alone well too. I like that it leaves the door open for another visit to Bonneterre down the road…possibly! 🙂
Congrats on the great Menu review!

I had to revise the last scene–change the location, remove the judge character–based on some research I got at the last minute (as in, after I’d written the last scene!), so I managed to re-write it so that Anne is in the final scene. I couldn’t get Meredith there, but having Anne in it felt like it tied everything up nicely.

Oh…FYI…usually we get Harvest samples 4-6 weeks after they are released. I don’t know where author copies fit into that shipping time frame but I thought I’d let you know…

I discovered when I went out to get in the car to go to the store that there were several boxes partially hidden behind the steps to my SIDE door—between the steps and the garbage can. So I guess they were delivered the ONLY time I left my house this week, when I went to get my hair cut yesterday. Apparently my regular UPS guy is off this week or something because he would NEVER have put the boxes over there. It’s a good thing it didn’t rain last night or they’d have been ruined, because there’s no overhang there. And I can’t believe they didn’t leave a note on the front door, indicating they’d left the boxes over there. But if I hadn’t found them this afternoon, I’d have seen them tonight, since it’s trash night.
Good thing I’d already planned a trip to the P.O. tomorrow!
