In March, I read 11 books.
Jaded, By Varina Denmen–Debut novel by Varina. Great look at how the church can hurt its people and how long it can take to heal from those hurts. Highly recommend. The link for my review on Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22309417-jaded
I finished the remainder of the Kaufman Amish Bakery Series, which I started in February.
There were a total of 7 books in the series, including 2 Christmas novellas. I really enjoyed each offering. If you like Amish fiction, these are definitely must reads. In February, I read the first 2 books (A Gift of Grace and A Promise of Hope) The remaining five (A Place of Peace, A Life of Joy, Naomi’s Gift, A Plain and Simple Christmas, and A Season of Love), I read in March.
I began to read Suzanne Woods Fisher’s Inn at Eagle Hill series. There are a total of 4 novels and one novella in this series. I read books 1 and 2. The Letters (1) and The Calling (2). Again, this is Amish fiction. I really enjoy the genre. I always learn some truth about God from these books. Okay, I admit it–I learn a lot of truths about God from all of the books I read, but these seem to stick with me more.
I found a lighter read, by Lori Copeland. She has a way of spinning a story that really captivates me. Monday Morning Faith does just that. This is a great look at the world of missionaries. The more I read, the more thankful I was that God has not called me to the foreign mission field. My mission field is firmly within the walls of my church. Still, great book.
I read When Grace Sings, by Kim Vogel Sawyer. This is the second book in her Zimmerman Restoration Series. If you haven’t read When Mercy Rains, you should read it before When Grace Sings. Lastly, I read The Magician’s Nephew, by C.S. Lewis. I have challenged myself this year to finish three series, The Kaufman Amish Bakery, Inn at Eagle Hill and Narnia) Looking through the listing of the Narnia series, I discovered that this book is a prequel to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It seemed appropriate to start reading the series here.
Next up is to continue my Inn at Eagle Hill books and Narnia. I also have the second in the Jaded series, Justified, to read and review. I am continuing to read Handfasted Wife.
I am currently reading The Rose of Winslow Street. It is starting slowly, but I am beginning to get into the story and really want to know what happens next.

I have Jaded by Varina Denman checked out right now on my Kindle. It sounds like it will be something different than a lot of other books I read. I haven’t gotten to it yet.

I’ll be interested to read your review of The Rose of Winslow Street. That one’s been on my “to sample” list for quite some time, and I’m trying to challenge myself to read more Christian fiction this year, and I thought I should start with those that are already on my list.

Narnia is one of my favorites … hope you enjoy! My favorite is “The Horse and His Boy” (and “The Silver Chair” a close second).
I read “The Rose of Winslow Street” awhile ago. I love Elizabeth Camden’s books, but that one is kind of forgettable to me –I don’t remember a lot from it. Not to say it was bad, I just don’t recall a lot from it. However, I highly recommend her recent novel, “Beyond All Dreams” –a librarian, a politician, Washington DC and the Library of Congress … I think it’s her best novel yet, but I may be biased. =)

Was this your first time reading The Silent Governess, or was it a re-read? Up until I started The Secret of Pembrooke Park, that was the only one of Klaussen’s books I was able to read straight through and stayed up late multiple nights reading because I was so caught up in it.

It was definitely a re-read. I’ve read the book twice and this time listened to the audio version. I have enjoyed all of Julie Klassen’s books, but my least favorite is The Dancing Master. Have you read The Tutor’s Daughter? If it’s a hint of mystery you like then you would probably enjoy that one. She has two coming out this year. One in December from Bethany House and one in July from Penguin called Lady Maybe.

Here’s what I read last month thanks to some travel (you can see all my thoughts here):
Home is Where My People Are by Sophie Hudson – Oh my goodness. I literally laughed out loud on the plane and immediately wanted to try Popeye’s Chicken all at the same time.
Caught Up in a Story by Sarah Clarkson – Love her insight nto literature with children and her heart in this book!
Flourish: Balance for Homeschool Moms by Mary Jo Tate.
The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom – cannot even begin to tell you how much we all enjoyed this one. It tied in nicely with the time period we are learning about in history and was even more interesting because my mom worked for her as a secretary many years ago.
After a Fashion by Jen Turano – another cute book that tied in with several of her prior books. A great quick read and just fun – grab it for summer reading!
When Love Calls by Lorna Seilstad (via Kindle) – another light read at bedtime
The Inheritance by Tamera Alexander (via Kindle) – a bedtime read
Glittering Promises by Lisa Bergren (via Kindle) – the last of three books in a series. I’d already read the first two and wanted to find out the ending!
The Saturdays (audiobook) – the kids and I found this one at the library and absolutely loved it. We recently grabbed two more books in the series to listen to this month!

Here’s what I read in April. April Books
One of my favorites was The Birth Order Book by Dr. Kevin Leman. Very interesting, informative, and gives good explanations for why some people do the things they do.
Last night I finished a biography of Charlotte Brontë by Elizabeth Gaskell. It was very good, but kind of sad in some places. I really felt like I could identify with Charlotte personally. I listened to the North and South soundtrack while I read it.
Up next is another non-ficton book called The South Was Right by James and Walter Kennedy.
