I have been going to Wal Mart’s discount book table and picking up some very good books. I finished a book by Teresa Medeiros called The Pleasure of Your Kiss, Christmas Wishes by Debbie Macomber, Christmas in Sugarcreek by Shelley Shepard Gray, (I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit) and The Homecoming by Robyn Carr. I am just started Once Upon A Time by Debbie Macomber. Once Upon A Time covers literary elements such as characters, setting, backstory, and conflict. This book will hopefully help me become a better writer. I want our writing group to start back up! Is there any chance it will?

Here’s my review for The Hesitant Heiress by Dawn Crandall.

I’m getting ready to start The Bound Heart by Dawn Crandall. Next will either be Abandoned Memories by MaryLu Tyndall or a re-read of Pride and Prejudice.

I re-read a couple of books in September, for group reads–Full Steam Ahead, by Karen Witemeyer and The Tutor’s Daughter, by Julie Klassen. These books were just as good the second time around.
I also read 2 books by Shelley Shepherd Gray–The Secrets of Sloane House (Loved the mystery involved) and Joyful (Book 3 in her Return to Sugarcreek series)
I read The Governess of Highland Hall, by Carrie Turansky. This was a great book. I used a new library app (Hoopla) to listen to the audio. I was not impressed with the app., but really loved the book.
I, also, finished Just Jane, by Nancy Moser. This was a fictionalized biography on Jane Austen. I was really impressed with the writing style and the information. I look forward to reading the remaining books in this series.
Next, I returned to another favorite, Vannetta Chapman and read A Home for Lydia. This is book 2 in a series I have been trying to finish for a while. I really liked this one, as with most of Vannetta’s books.
Lastly, I returned to Fool’s Gold and read the next book in the series, When We Met, by Susan Mallery. I also read the next 2 books, but didn’t finish either in September, so I will list those next month.
I am currently reading, on audio–Child of Mine, by David and Beverly Lewis.
Next up, I plan to read the Great Exhibition books, by you, A Wedding for Julia, by Vannetta Chapman and The Daughter of Highland Hall and probably The River, by Beverly Lewis. I also want to read The Healing Quilt, by Wanda Brunstetter.

I’m currently re-reading Stephen Lawhead’s King Raven Trilogy, and I’m on Scarlet, the second book. For study, I’m reading The Time Traveler’s Guide to Elizabethan England.

The Escape (The Survivors’ Club #3) by Mary Balogh, audiobook read by Rosalyn Landor (4.25 stars)
Across the Great Barrier (Frontier Magic, #2) by Patricia C. Wrede, narrated by Amanda Ronconi (4 stars)
Highland Surrender by Tracy Brogan, read by Sarah Coomes. Audiobook (returned for a refund): 1 star. Story (finished on Kindle): 3.5 stars
The Captain’s Kidnapped Beauty by Mary Nichols (1 star, DNF)
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, read by Tom Mison!!! This was a freebie on Audible, and it was SOOOO good, read by TV’s Ichabod Crane, Tom Mison. For the first time in this English major’s life, I wished this story was longer! 😀 Be sure to click through to listen to the sample. (Story: 3.5 stars, Narrator: 5 stars)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, audiobook read by Jim Dale (my favorite narrator of all time!)
The House on Main Street (Apple Valley, Book 1) by Shirlee McCoy, read by Eileen Stevens (4 stars)
Washington Square by Henry James (2.5 stars)
