I have a strong urge to read . . . nothing right now. It may be time to raid my bookshelves for an old favorite or two.

I didn’t read much at all last month – in fact, not sure I read a whole book at all [I’m sure I did, but got me what they were]. I did write a whole manuscript in 13 days [rough draft, only work two days a week, and total God inspiration]. Entered multiple entries in Genesis and had kids home for a week.
This month, I have about a million in my TBR stack. I’m working on Josiah’s Treasure by Nancy Herriman at the moment and my goal this month is to get my review/influencer pile mostly gone. Edits and reading. That’s my plan for the next 31 days. And planning our Disney/Orlando vacation ;).
Oh. I did read Noble Groom by Jody Hedlund last month. That’s one I can name.

As to what I’m reading…I have far too many things going at once. Too. SCATTERED. I need to pick one thing to finish first and report back. 😉

My pleasure reading has gone into a very low valley, this month. I have not finished any books in written form, with the exception of one textbook (My Tax and Professional Responsibility Class) However, I have had the pleasure of listening to a few.
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court–Very Funny and just what one should expect from Mark Twain.
Lady of Milkweed Manner and The Silent Governess, by Julie Klassen.
Where the Heart Leads, by Kim Vogel Sawyer.
Crystal Cove, by Lisa Klepas–This is the 4th book in the Friday Harbor Series. I really enjoyed the first 2 books. However, the last 2 books were a bit “too out there for me.”–However, they were well written and entertaining.
The Dressmaker–Set in 1912, begins with the tragic voyage of the Titanic and its aftermath. Quite informative on the Congressional Hearings, which followed the tragedy.
I know I listen to approximately one book a week, but would need to check my MP3 to determine, to which other books I listened.
I am currently listening to Pride and Prejudice–nearly finished.
Next on my list is to be determined. I may need to follow Kaye’s example and find some “old friends” to revisit.

Lovlier Than Daylight by Rosslyn Elliott (whiskey rebellion in OH; 1875)
Ashton Park by Murray Pura (WWI; likely Downton Abbey inspired; soooo many (8) viewpoints; interesting, but too many plots/couples in one book)
Today’s Shadows Becky Melby (adoption; sub-plot about house servant in early 1900’s and women’s rights)
Yesterday’s Stardust by Becky Melby (newspaper reporter infiltrating a gang for article; ministry to youth; sub-plot about roaring twenties)
Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson (best Regency romance I’ve read in a long time; wanted to re-read it right off; light-hearted, endearing characters; not too much drama; no brooding hero here; hero laughs and teases alot; heroine is seventeen, but adorable)
To Whisper Her Name by Tamera Alexander ( post Civil War; Belle Meade Plantation; horse training; slave education/schools)
Waiting for Morning by Margaret Brownley ( ranch; girl caring for paralyzed brother; hero is doctor who gives brother physical therapy; heroine formerly worked in a saloon)
Saving Grace by Denise Hunter (really enjoyed this series; abortion, adoption, Crisis Pregnancy Center; divorce)
Finding Faith by Denise Hunter (Book 3; abortion; news anchor; marriage problems)
Sweet Tea Revenge by Laura Childs (part of the Charleston Tea Shop mystery series)
Dying to Read by Lorena McCourtney (cozy mystery; amateur PI)
A Wedding Date in Hot Springs Arkansas by Annalisa Daughety (two plots; one couple has to revive their marriage; other couple are singles who are looking for a date for a particular event; enjoyed the book, but wish each couple had their own book)
Love Finds You in Glacier Bay Alaska (singer on the brink of stardom reunites with a former fiance; sub-plot of letters that are found; actually wish the sub-plot could have been a separate historical of its own; enjoyed it more than the contemporary one)
Grey Mask by Patricia Wentworth (cozy mystery; England; 1929)

Next, I’ll be reading Be Still My Soul by Joanne Bischof and Accused by Janice Cantore.

I recently finished Lynn Austin’s 5 book series “Chronicles of the Kings,” which was fantastic, and Grisham’s latest (I think), “The Racketeer” (pretty good).
I’m currently reading William Carey’s “An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens, in which the Religious State of the Different Nations of the World, the Success of Former Undertakings, and the Practicability of Further Undertakings, are Considered.” (I’m guessing he didn’t have to run that title by a publisher :0) It’s very good. Not only was Carey the “Father of Modern Missions,” he was also a good writer and a superb theologian.
I’m also reading “Cold Case Christianity: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels,” by J. Warner Wallace. It’s kind of a Law & Order/CSI approach to the evidence of the gospels. Excellent, so far.

Recently finished A Cast of Stones by Patrick Carr. Last night finished Where We Belong by Emily Giffin. I loved my first read by the author. It made me feel happy :). Themes of romantic and parental love, adoption, forgiveness, reconciliation. Emily Giffin’s books have “cutesy” covers so I didn’t pick one up until after reading her interview in Writer’s Digest. I want to read more by this author in the future. On my list is the second book in the 100 Cupboards series. The first one gave me the creeps, so I haven’t begun the second one yet. My daughter & son-in-law loved the series and keep asking me if I finished yet. Guess I should go for it.

I didn’t read many books in March maybe 4. The last was Forsaken Dreams (think thats right) by MaryLu Tyndall and its amazing. I loved it and cant wait for book 2.
I am currently reading Scorned Justice by Margaret Daley (and have been for a while) My reading has dropped right off. I seem to be tired at night and just cant get into it like I use to. As much as I still love reading.
Next is possibly an aussie book Web of Lies by Laura O’Connell.

I recently finished Scorned Justice and thought it was fantastic. Margaret Daley can really weave a suspenseful and gripping mystery. Romance was pretty good too. 🙂

I have been reading MaryLu Tyndall’s Forsaken Dreams and will probably finish it today. Next I’m going to read a friend’s manuscript! After that… not sure. I have a GIANT to-be-read pile at home, more on Kindle, and a big Amazon wish list :O Wish I could read faster…
