This month I’ve read: Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, Twice a Bride by Mona Hodgson, Redeeming Grace by Ward Tanneberg (fantastic), Mystery of the Heart by Jillian Kent, Texas Wildflowers by Anita Higman, Doctor to the Rescue by Cheryl Wyatt, Flight of the Earls by Michael Reynolds, and Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I think that’s all of them. 🙂
At the moment I’m reading Shattered by Dani Pettrey, great suspense. And among my to be read is the rest of the Beautiful Creatures series, a slew of new books for review and of course Follow the Heart. 🙂

1. Mind Hurdles: Having Fun with States & Capitals in the United States (Interactive Quiz Book)
Cute freebie on the Kindle, so I thought I’d test myself since I never learned them in school.
2. The Proposal by Diane Craver (DNF – First chapter was all backstory and telling in quotes:
“He did want you to visit him when he had a business conference in Portland. You’ve never been to Oregon. Brad thought you’d enjoy the vacation.”
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
“I’m glad you’re replenishing your body fluid, so you don’t become dehydrated. You had to lose a lot of water from sweating so much.”
This was said in casual conversation from a big sister to a 15 yr old she just picked up from football practice.)
3. The Art of War for Writers by James Scott Bell
4. Free Four: Tobias Tells the Story by Veronica Roth
Currently reading:
Revision & Self Editing by James Scott Bell

So many to choose from.
I’m busy editing my own work, so I don’t know what I’ll grab when I need a break.

What was it you found annoying about The Viscount Who Loved Me? I’ll admit, it’s not nearly as fun as The Duke & I, but I am enjoying it enough not to put it down as a DNF.

I finished “The Viscount Who Loved Me”, but I found the dialogue boring, and the romance seemed, well, a bit contrived and unbelievable. There were a couple of times the characters did something and mentally I went ‘Really? I can’t believe that’. Wasn’t as tension-filled either. Shrug. “The Duke & I” was much better. 🙂

In January, I discovered a new author–Sarah Price. She had a nice serial of 10 books called “Amish Circle Letters.”–I also read her retelling of my favorite book, “An Amish Christmas Carol” This book probably won’t make my Christmas must read list, but over all she did an excellent job.
I also read “Georgiana Darcy’s Diary (Book 1).–This book is an author’s sequel to Pride and Prejudice and focuses on Darcy’s sister, Georgiana. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
I am currently listening to “The Canterbury Tales” –Last CD. After listening to the entire book, I realize why we only read a select few in school. Some of the stories are not as entertaining as one could hope. Also, some are based on Chaucer’s theology and certainly does not mix well with my understanding of theology.
I am also reading book 2 of Georgiana’s diary, Plain Fame, by Sarah Price, and of course, I have restarted Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen.
Next on my reading list is yet to be determined. I have many books on my Nook, that I have downloaded and haven’t read, so I will probably pick on of those. My goal is to read a “contemporary” book and then read a classic.

I read over 20 books in January (summer holidays), so I’m not listing them all here (if you are interested, you can find me on Goodreads).
I’m currently reading the last of the Ransome trilogy, and am very glad I had all three before I started reading, because of the cliffhanger ending at the end of book 2.
Next up is Congo Dawn by Jeanette Windle, or Girl in the Glass by Susan Meissner.

Wow you all read so fast! Lol. It takes me at LEAST a few weeks to read most books. I am currently reading Healer by Linda Windsor. It’s a great story! I’m also reading through Not A Fan by Kyle Idleman with the young adults group at my church.
The next book on my to read list is definitely MaryLu Tyndall’s Forsaken Dreams!! Although, I’ll probably read something else in between now and then, since it doesn’t come out until March and I’m almost done Healer 🙂
