Just finished _The Harbinger_ about Isaiah 9:10’s details about 9/11. Fasinating and detailed and specific. *Definitely* recommend it, it’s so startling. Just started Patricia Pacjac Carroll’s _Liberty Belle_ and will be reading Gina Conroy’s novella in _Cherry Blossom Capers_ set in Washington.

The Harbinger is a must read. Took me two weeks because I had to go back and reread some of the first chapters.

I downloaded Pacjac’s book on my Kindle. Not sure when I’m going to get to it, but I’m so happy for her!

I finished the Jack of Hearts by Jenny Mahoney, its YA and an aussie book. Its not my type of book and found at times it was slow especially when the heroine was on her own as it read a bit like a diary but the interaction and action was much better paced. If you like YA you would probably like the book.
I am on a Plain Death now I am enjoying it, (I am really frustrated that its taking me a week or more to read a book at present as I am just to exhausted at night). I hope to finish it tomorrow and really do like it. Its different and interesting at the same time. Next will be one of about 3 or 4 I have to read to review.

I’ve been interested in Wives & Daughters since I saw bits and pieces of the PBS series. How is it?

I’m enjoying it. So far (and I’ve only gotten up to the point at which Molly’s father remarries, so still very much the beginning of this very long book), it seems like the miniseries was mostly faithful to the book.

Just finished “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. Got a bit tired of the impulsivity of the young hero by the end, but it was so gorgeously written and so intense that I couldn’t put it down. Recommended. Reading a ton of different non-fiction at a time, as always, but the only novels I’m currently reading are “Rise of Empire” by Michael J. Sullivan and “Wish You Were Here” by Beth Vogt. I’m expecting to read “The King of Attolia” by Megan Whalen Turner next.

I’ve been listening to a number of great books while I work out but this summer, I’ve been revisiting the Cheney Duvall Series from Gilbert Morris and his daughter, Lynn. Waiting on these books are what prompted me to start writing.

Love, love, love Cheney and Shiloh!! I’ve read this series at least a half dozen times over the years. My friend and I talk about them like they’re old friends. LOL!

How do you pronounce Cheney? I’ve always said the “e” sounding like a hard “a”.

I’ve got one of Julie Klassen’s books (I think it’s Gatehouse) in my wishlist on Audible. I’ll probably do that one after I finish listening to this series by Charlotte Featherstone.

You will love The Girl in the Gatehouse. I listened to it recently and was very impressed. I just finished on audio The Maid of Fairborn Hall which was just as wonderful.

Finished? Well not finished book. The last book I read I was disgusted with.The plot was good but the amount of lust etc put me off

Lisa Bergren is a fabulous author! I’ve read the first book in her YA series, and I had a hard time putting it down every night.

FInished: The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan (though it looks like I finished that on June 9 – didn’t think it was that long ago!)
Reading now: The First 50 pgs by Jeff Gerke
TBR: too many to name. Most likely one of Mark Mynheir’s books.

I have The Governess Affair on my list of “Books to Sample”—which means at one time, I downloaded the sample onto my Kindle but, in an effort to try to make it run faster, I deleted the hundred-plus samples and pinned them to a Pinterest board instead. So now, when I’m looking for something to read, I can head over there and see the cover and click through to the description much easier than on my Kindle.
I’ve only read one novella by Milan, and the plot seemed a bit scattered. How did you like TGA?

I really enjoyed it. I love the interplay between the two characters–especially the day they argue back and forth via delivered notes.
I think I might have read that novella–Unlocked? I hit that one in the middle of a lot of self-pubbed books that were released a few edits too early, so for me it was a great book. =)
The only other novel of hers I’ve read was Unveiled. She impressed me with an impasse that I honestly didn’t know how they’d get past. The rest of the series is on my “one day” list.

At the moment, I am reading a series of 7 books, called 7 hours, by various authors. I recently finished Rene Gutteridge’s portion of the series. The premise is what would you do, if you only had 7 hours left to live. The series is sort of a take off of “What If,” with a twist. The person who only has 7 hours left has the choice of what 7 hours he or she wished to relive, whether in the past or the next.
I am also revisiting Tracie Peterson’s Ladies of Liberty Series on audio. I have finished the first two and have nearly completed the third. I would highly recommend these books. My only criticism is that none of the characters from the previous books continue on in the subsequent. I always like to know what happens after “happily ever after” and don’t get to find out.
Next on my schedule are the remaining 7 hours books, Northanger Abby (no haven’t picked it up again), and maybe something by Dickens–David Copperfield, maybe.

Have you read Ronie Kendig’s story in 7 Hours yet? She’s a dear friend of mine.
I didn’t realize that series by Tracie Peterson was on audio. I’ll have to try to find that.
If you’re going to read Dickens, I have to put a word in for Bleak House—sure, it’s overly long, overly complicated, and meandering, but I think it has one of the sweetest romances he wrote. Our Mutual Friend comes in a close second.

By far my favorite Dickens is “A Christmas Carol”. I read it every Christmas. Scrooge’s salvation has always been a great reminder to me of God’s grace.

Currently reading Flame of Resistance by Tracy Groot and The Collected John Carter of Mars Vol. 2 by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Up next? Who knows, I’ll probably change my mind six times at least! 😉

The Promise of Hope by Kathryn Springer
Carbon Copy Cowboy by Arlene James
Two long-time Love Inspired writers with very different styles. Enjoy them both, but Springer is my category romance hero. She writes engaging romance with a humorous flair.
Also Can I Get An Amen? by Sarah Healy. Debut novel that I’m crowing about. Not your grandmother’s nor your mother’s or even your inspirational/Christian fiction. Bold, courageous and provocative look at a woman’s relationship with religion–hers and that of her born-again parents–as she rebuilds her life following a divorce.
Currently reading:
A Wish and A Prayer by Beverly Jenkins
Fourth book in the Blessings series set in fictional Henry Adams, a midwestern town with long, deep African American roots that was purchased by billionaire owner Bernardine Brown. Stories make you want to move to Henry Adams.
Next up:
The Next Target by Nikki Arana
Love Nikki’s books but haven’t been able to make myself crack the cover of this thriller just yet. Seem to be in a softer, gentler reading mode.
Ocean Beach by Wendy Wax
I’ve heard so many great things about Ms. Wax’s writing that I decided to find out for myself.

Just finished The Harbinger. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn compares God’s message of judgment to Isarel in Isaish 8 and 9 to events in America, like 9/11 and world economic crisis to he same judgments given in these scriptures. Interesting.
Currently reading the latest Anne Tyler novel, THE BEGINNER’S GOODBYE. The protaganist is an editor for self-publishing press which specializes in “Beginner” books, much like Dummy books. His wife died and he is going through saying goodbye, accepting her death. Thus the title a beginner’s book on how to say goodbye to a loved one. This is not my favorite Anne Tyler book, but I keep reading to see how it ends.
Haven’t decided what to read next. Whatever it is I hope it puts me in a cheerier frame of mind.
