Writer-Talk Tuesday. Let’s Talk.

I can’t think of anything to write about for this Writer-Talk Tuesday. I overdid it at the gym on Monday and, since I write my posts the night before, I’m about to crawl into bed and hope that my PM pain killer will keep me asleep as my body gets sorer and sorer.
So I’m risking a commentless blog and throwing the choice of writer-talk chat up to you.

How about a discussion on one-sheets? I have heard a lot about them lately with many friends prepping and polishing for the ACFW Conference in September. Do you have any tips for us – maybe the #1 things to do (or not to do) to really make them stand out?

I don’t usually participate in these Tuesday writing discussions because I’m not a writer and don’t have any aspirations of being published. I do have a LONG list of issues running the whole gamut of politics to religion to total randomness that I want to spend more time consolidating my thoughts on. I’d like to have a blog and put them on there, maybe, but I just never seem to have the time to do more than think about them and maybe write down quick little paragraphs to remind myself what I’d like to expound on later.

I topped 72,000 on the space opera yesterday. I also realized I’ve written well over 100,000 words since January, spread across three different things.
Ramping up for the climax in the space opera too. I’m having so much fun and it’s hard to believe the first book is almost over. Good thing I’ve got material for a couple more, since I’m having so much fun.

How’s your writing coming? Do you feel like you’re beginning to get into/like the novel or is it still painful to put words on the screen?
Last week you suggested that it might be time for me to start a new project (I did read the post you linked to). You’re the second person to tell me to take a break. This isn’t a rebuttal to that, just my thoughts on what I’m working through.
I feel God gave me a message in the form of a post about Nehemiah. The title was Gettin’ it done. (It also lines up with what my husband and I have been reading in II Cor about continuing what was started.) Of all the projects overseen and finished in the Bible, Nehemiah is an interesting choice, and what stands out for me is that the workers had to be armed. You never meet opposition like you do when you try to fulfill God’s plan for your life.
At the conference last year, I heard a statistic about the number of people who don’t follow up when a manuscript is requested (wish I’d written the number down). I thought someone would have to be crazy to be in that situation. Now, I understand at least one reason. =)
The editor I pitched to requested my manuscript. He did say I could send it “when it was ready” (he’d asked me to rewrite the beginning). Neither of us thought it would take this long.
Did you face valleys when editing SIG? Times you wanted to quit or frustrations in the road to publication? What got you through?
