If you could live the life of any king or queen from history, which one would you choose and why?

The late Queen Mum, the present Elizabeth’s mother. She had the luxury of marrying, at the time, the distant third-in-line to the throne and having two daughters without the hoopla that surrounds the mother of the Next-in-Line. Then for twenty-some years she was Queen Consort. After George’s death, she lived out her years as a much-beloved royal with all of the perks a Queen Mum is afforded, but none of the stress her daughter inherited as Monarch. Not a bad life, all told. ;D

You are so wise. In my opinion that is the best choice ever and for all the right reasons.

my favourite fairy tale is the snow queen and I think I would love to be Gerda who loves the boy Kay and after the snow queen takes him away she searches for him and doesn’t give up regardless of the trials and finally finds and saves him.
I love how she never gives up.

Ariel!!! I want to be a mermaid, I think she has the best looking prince, his castle is by the ocean, it’s a picturesque kingdom with very little stress. Perfection.

Oh, I have! I found these yummy popcorn recipes that are to die for, if you’re a popcorn lover! You have to scroll down the page to get to them but they are delicious! Don’t get distracted by the chocolate covered bacon, though 🙂 I’m trying that one this weekend!

Do you have to have some kind of noise (white noise, radio, music, etc.) at night to sleep, or do you need absolute silence? What about light/dark?

I like it quiet. I have learnt to sleep with a bit of traffic noise as I am on a busier road than I use to be. I am use to traffic but the foot traffic and yelling will keep me awake. I also like it dark the light will wake me up. When I stay in hotels where there is alot of noise from people being loud in hall ways or the next room can make it hard to sleep.

during the winter we keep humidifiers running for noise
and fans during the summer, which also slows down turning on the a/c
since we live in the country, when we do stay in town it’s hard to sleep through
      traffic etc.
We do have nightlights randomly posted, mostly cause I’m clumsy and
      run into stuff without them!

Before I get in bed I open the draperies and raise the window, even in the winter. That way the moonlight streams in the room and in the mornings I awake to the birds singing outside. No alarm clock! Starts the day on a positive note. Course I don’t the window as high in the winter but I grew up in a bedroom with a fireplace that died out at night, thus I slept in a cool room and I’m comfortable with that from habit.

It has to be dark. Where my power cord plugs into my laptop glows blue, and I cover it with a rag at night.

My white noise is my laptop’s cooling pad.

White noise and mostly dark. I really sleep best in summer, when the AC is on right outside my bedroom window!

I prefer no noise and dark, but the no noise is almost impossible in the country. The night sounds can be SO loud. Frogs, crickets, etc. It’s like having the homemedic on all the time 🙂

What one fashion statement from the 1980s do you wish would come back in style?

im not sure it was a fashion statement but dresses back then fitted better. they had my length (now its ever maxi or mini). they had a waist and fitted well. Skirts did too. Trying to buy a skirt that fits well thats not so to the ankles or a mini is almost impossible at present.
(someone is regretting getting rid of all those dresses I thought I would never wear ago turns out I would have fitted them again now).

Padded shoulders, because my own slope, so except for the padded-shoulder era, dresses and jacket never hang right on me. Clothes-wise, the 1930s and ’40s are more compatible with my body type!

If you’re having trouble sleeping and decide to pick up a book to read, what do you grab that will be almost guaranteed to bore you to sleep?

Any 800-page biography with small print that goes almost to the edges of the page. It’s not the content that sends me back to Dreamland, but the effort of reading small print by the light of the bedside lamp.

I never grab a boring book intentionally! Some of my best reading time is in the middle of the night so I don’t want to waste it. In fact, I’d better get off here and get A Case for Love read. I hear it’s pretty good and won’t bore me to sleep 😉

if i am having trouble sleeping, i usually don’t pick up whatever book i am in the middle of because it is likely to keep my interest. instead, i read the dictionary. boring, but true. have done since a kid. it has really expanded my vocab which has helped as a reader and a writer….. i work at trying to learn a new word or two, mull over it and go back to sleep 🙂
