Right this minute I would go to Hawaii! I left here 12 months ago today to go there and I so want to go back. I do want to see my friend in Georgia badly but not at this time of year. If it was April – Oct I would say Georgia but right now Hawaii.

Sounds to me like if you were to have a vacation house, it would need to be in Hawaii. Because that’s the place where your heart longs for!

with my cricket team in the finals I wouldn’t mind being Perth tomorrow evening to watch them live. I had to listen on the internet on Weds night and they cut it off with 5 runs to win and 2 ball left to bowl. It was so tight and then bang they cut it off. we lost by one run. If I had cable I could watch it but the cost of cable to get sport is around $70 a month and I cant afford that sort of cost.

Italy is so diverse. Mountains? Beaches? Venice? Rome? Tuscany?

Rome, or maybe Tuscany or Umbria. Somewhere central though, so I could use it as a base and visit the rest of the country as well

    Audry messed me up.
well, my first loves are the two places I strive to visit as often as possible. Cape Ann Massachusetts (Rockport, Gloucester, Manchester, Essex, Marblehead. are you familiar?) and the outer banks of North Carolina.

I’d love a vacation home in the OBX.

Italy? That’s a big dream. Hard to pop over for a long weekend and my expectations of being filthy rich are constantly diminishing. Thanks for the moment to dream, though!

Good point. If I had a vacation home in Italy, it would be a seldom-used one unless I also had a lot more money to get myself there and back 😀 Still, it’s my dream. I actually really want to live in Italy for a year or two. Not sure how that one will happen either.

Have never been to Massachusetts, but I do want to go someday.

      What’s “the OBX”?

In my dream world, Hawaii. In real-life? Litchfield Beach, SC. Close to Charleston and Myrtle Beach, but a little sleepier!

    Kinda like me this morning . . . . 🙂

Did I mention that in my dream world, “beaming” from place to place will be the mode of transportation? To me, the worst part of vacation is the TRAVEL part! 😉

Who said this was supposed to be “real-life”? The whole point of this exercise is to DREAM BIG!

Downtown Chicago . . . in a highrise overlooking Grant Park and Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. Man, I miss that city. 😦

The Carribbean, a short hop from FL, NY or France. Hubby likes the French Riviera but I loved Paris.

I could imagine that both Paris and the French Riviera have their charms, and I like the diversity between city and country enough to probably enjoy both. Since it sounds like you’ve been to Paris, what is it about the city that makes you love it so much?

Lake Tahoe. Or somewhere in the Colorado Rockies in the Aspen/Vail/Boulder triangle. I have a love affair with mountains, but don’t think I could live there full time.

Having grown up at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, I miss *real* mountains so much (you know, the kind that are tall enough that they aren’t covered with trees like what passes for mountains on this side of the country). What I can’t stand is flat with no trees—like the panhandle of Texas or the square states out in the middle. That much open space makes me nervous and long for trees/hills/mountains.

I was in the Texas panhandle once. One time too many! Wind nearly blew our camper over.

But mountains…. There’s just something about them, the Rockies in particular, that have always captured my imagination. The longest living characters in my head–closing in on 20 years now–live in the Colorado Rockies. I’ve made half-hearted attempts to move them to other states. They won’t budge.

While I would love to make England my second home, for a vacation home, I’d have to go with Romania.

Since we are dreaming, I’ll have two. One is an apartament in New York City overlooking Central Park. The second one would be in the Grand Canyon. I understand there is or was a ranch down in the canyon, so I wouldn’t be too isolated. And it would have to have all the luxuries, lights, water, sauna, pool with a gourme chef and full time housekeeper. I’d like to go hiking and rafting, or just sit on the porch and commune with nature — and write.

I live in N.C. My family visited there once but that was when I was very young so I don’t remember it.
