Never got the hang of skateboarding. Haven’t roller skated since I was little. Tried to learn inline skates, but I’m not light on my feet and the speed scared me.
I haven’t roller skated since I was a kid, but I ice skate (sometimes regularly, sometimes not) so I’m pretty sure I could still roller skate if I tried. Never could get the hang of a skateboard.
Anything with wine in it. Whether it be my brother doing the cooking or me adding it to a marinade or using it as the secret ingredient in my mushroom gravy.
This is a hard one My first one other than school play etc was Big River and I really loved it.
I also like Me and My Girl it was really good. There is only one I have been to which I wish I hadn’t and that was Sunset boulevard. (Only good thing about it was Hugh Jackman)
I had the benefit of a grandmother who was a costume designer at our regional theater, so I’ve seen tons of plays and worked on tons of them. There’s so many to choose from! My absolute FAVORITE, I think, was “My One and Only.” That was a spectacular show, and I still sing the songs today twenty (gulp) years later. Harold Nicholas came in and helped choreograph and had a small role. That blew my mind. I also got to see the Broadway touring show of The Wizard of Oz in Detroit, with Mickey Rooney as the Wizard and Eartha Kitt as the Wicked Witch. THAT was a great show.
This is a tough one, but I’m going to go with Young Frankenstein because there were so many little jokes on the stage that you don’t get the benefit of when you listen to the cast recording.
It’s grown too thin in the last 10 years, needs cut right now, and I’d love to go black again. Ultimately, my husband wants to see it in deep blue, but that would require bleaching it. I want to research it more before I risk getting the color all over clothes and sheets, etc.
it would be nice if it was thicker. It is both fine and thin, and I also am allergic to alot of chemicals they use (which has caused a type of dermatitis) so I cant have it coloured or treated. So a bit thicker and maybe a bit curlier I like the colour. Oh it would be nice it could grow longer and look good and if it was thicker it could.
Same problem here, my hair is so thin and fine. It has a bit of a curl to it, but it’s so fine that just makes it frizzy. I finally cut it short (similar style to yours Kaye) a couple years ago and that actually makes it look much thicker, but I do envy girls with long thick silky hair
around 8. I try to have lights out at 10.30 and get up between 7 and 8 (closer to 8 at present as its darker) but it seems lately some nights have been later as some books wont let me stop reading.
If I read to late no its not enough sleep.
i aim for between 8 and 9 and usually get it on weeknights. on weekends things are a little different i am up by 6 every morning so i need to go to bed at a time that will give me energy
I need about 10, but I rarely get it because I have problems both falling asleep and staying asleep. And this is WITH one of my prescriptions designed to help me sleep. Running on 6 right now for the second time this week and it’s not going well. I can make do on 8, but anything less and I’m pretty useless.
Rachel, I can SO relate. I think what frustrates me most is the lack of rhyme or reason to it — I can go days at a time sleeping just fine, and then something gets “off” and it is days of dragging…and that is with sleep aids. Very very frustrating! :/
Out of this house – once. Used a flat-head screw driver to slide the latch open.
I locked myself out of my car about 3 or 4 times in 6 months while dating someone (the first time was at a rest stop in GA when I was driving up to meet him). After we broke up, I never did it again.
funny you should ask in this house 4 times. twice I got the key from the landlords who live over the road. the other 2 times I broke in through the front window. I know how to get the screen off.
At the old house it was a matter of taking the screen of the window didn’t even need a screwdriver and then open the window. I have gotten into a friends place when I was looking after there animals and they had left lights on and forgot to return some things and they asked me to break in. The side window didn’t lock so was easy to get in.
Yep. I locked my daughter and me out at 2:00 in the morning in August in Tennessee. I got her up to watch the meteor shower and locked us out. We were going to sleep on the deck, since it was a nice night… Until it started lightning. So we used the keypad to get into my husband’s truck (he was deployed and all I could think was how bad he’d freak out if he called and we didn’t answer the phone at that time of night). We slept some, and I woke up around five and waited for my neighbor to come out and get her paper at 6, which she did like clockwork. I’d have knocked on her door earlier, but her husband was deployed too and I didn’t want to freak her out. Of course, the dog got out of the yard in the middle of the night and I had to chase him down at 5:00 in my pj’s. Joy.
I’ve locked myself out of the house, but we keep a spare key hidden. I KNOW I’ve locked myself out of the car too, but I guess it must not have been much of a story because I don’t really remember how I got in. I haven’t done either in a long time (probably jinxing myself here, because I’m a total scatterbrain and don’t know how I’ve avoided it for this long)
We locked the keys in the van once at piano lessons. Pop’s insurance clerk had to get his keys and drive to where we were to unlock the van. All the door knobs in the house have been changed to ones where it’s practically impossible to lock yourself out.
THAT’s why I haven’t locked myself out in a long time… my house now has a deadbolt that can only be locked from the outside with a key. Thank you. I am a dummy for not realizing that earlier
I went through a phase in college where I was locking myself out of my car quite often. My grandma would bring me my keys. She actually commented on this very subject last week. I had completely forgotten about all the times she carried my spare key to me. lol Then my husband and I went through a time where we were both locking our keys up in the car and we would call Sam’s roadside service because it came free with a membership. They told us one more time and we wouldn’t be offered the service anymore. No joke.
Apparently, a S. African university student has invented DryBath – a clear gel that does the job of soap and water. Sounds like hand sanitizer on a large scale without the alcohol smell. I can see the potential, but I wonder if it would ever catch on in First World countries.
Good grief, these weeks go faster and faster!
I was just thinking, it’s already Wednesday!
I loved to rollerskate as a kid, then rollerblade as a college student, but haven’t done either in years. Sounds like fun actually.
oops.
this reply goes with the next question.
Can you skateboard and/or rollerskate?
Never got the hang of skateboarding. Haven’t roller skated since I was little. Tried to learn inline skates, but I’m not light on my feet and the speed scared me.
I rollerskated not that well with the old type of roller skates
No, and definitely not going to try with my ankles.
I haven’t roller skated since I was a kid, but I ice skate (sometimes regularly, sometimes not) so I’m pretty sure I could still roller skate if I tried. Never could get the hang of a skateboard.
What do you typically eat for lunch?
I don’t have a set schedule, so a lot of times I end up just eating 2 meals a day.
it varies. often in summer it will be salad with tuna or a vegemite roll.
It varies day to day. Today will likely be a Smart Ones frozen meal.
leftovers, or if I don’t bring leftovers I’ll go out and buy a can of sardines or oysters, or a package of salami and cheese or something like that.
What’s your favorite kitchen smell?
baking bread
biscuits/cookies baking
I love the smell of a lamb roast also.
I LOVE the smell of onions and green peppers sauteing together. I don’t care what you’re going to make with it, that smell rocks.
Cooking onions! Yum!!
Anything with wine in it. Whether it be my brother doing the cooking or me adding it to a marinade or using it as the secret ingredient in my mushroom gravy.
baking bread, for sure.
If you could look like any celebrity, who would you choose?
I think Amanda Righetti is beautiful. (Grace van Pelt on the Mentalist)
probably gwyneth paltrow. i think she is so lovely.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Take out my ear plugs.
check the time.
same here, grab my phone to check the time.
Wish I had a few more minutes to sleep.
Figure out where my cat is.
That’s number…oh it’s somewhere on the (long) list.
What is your favorite play/musical you’ve seen performed in the theatre? (i.e., live actors on a stage)
Sound of Music at a dinner theater when I was little. Still one of my favorite movie/stories of all time.
Surprised I forgot about (and that no one else mentioned) Phantom.
This is a hard one My first one other than school play etc was Big River and I really loved it.
I also like Me and My Girl it was really good. There is only one I have been to which I wish I hadn’t and that was Sunset boulevard. (Only good thing about it was Hugh Jackman)

Les Mis!

Wicked on Broadway! Oh it was so much fun!!
How many e-mails do you send on a typical day? (work related, personal, etc.)
One – the latest copy of my novel to my husband’s Kindle account for conversion/download.
I used to send dozens, but now that I’m back at work, I’d say five tops.
Do you like your hair, or do you wish you could change something about it? (texture, color, length, etc.)
It’s grown too thin in the last 10 years, needs cut right now, and I’d love to go black again. Ultimately, my husband wants to see it in deep blue, but that would require bleaching it. I want to research it more before I risk getting the color all over clothes and sheets, etc.

Thicker, with some wave to it. It’s SO straight and SO fine, there’s only so much to do with it. I wish perms would come back.
Same problem here, my hair is so thin and fine. It has a bit of a curl to it, but it’s so fine that just makes it frizzy. I finally cut it short (similar style to yours Kaye) a couple years ago and that actually makes it look much thicker, but I do envy girls with long thick silky hair
How many hours of sleep do you typically get each night? Is it enough?
Around 7. No. I need closer to 9.
around 8. I try to have lights out at 10.30 and get up between 7 and 8 (closer to 8 at present as its darker) but it seems lately some nights have been later as some books wont let me stop reading.

5-6 on most weeknights, and it’s definitely not enough.
It varies…WILDLY.
7 if I’m lucky, and no, it’s not really enough.

Yes! That’s where I’m at right now. It’s soooooo maddening.
Have you ever locked yourself out of your house and/or car (when no one else was in it)? How did you get back in?
Out of this house – once. Used a flat-head screw driver to slide the latch open.

Out of the house now, but out of the car numerous times, I’ve called a locksmith several times.
That should say out of the house, no.

What else do you want to talk about?
How come the more I learn about writing, the harder it is to just WRITE?
AMEN!
