“Beauty and the Beast” in 3-D. Only movie I’ve seen in MONTHS, and it was the one my 17-year-old HAD to watch for her birthday. I don’t think it was based on a true story . . .
I’ve actually seen two of the movies that were nominated for best picture—The Help (meh—wasn’t overly impressed) and War Horse (and I’m shocked it was nominated).
Yesterday I watched “The 5th Quarter” it was based on a true story, and was very good, I would definitely recommend it.
We just got “Courageous” can’t wait to see it! (I think we’re watching it today.)
Joyful Noise. Queen Latifah was fantastic. The music was fun, but I was surprised by some of the other movie content considering it was a movie about a church choir.
The longer it goes, the more I keep reminding myself it’s the Lost guys, it’s the lost guys. Must agree with you, Snow is not as strong as they want to make her. Her daughter is more kick-butt than she is.
As I tweeted Sunday night . . . I’ve never thought Snow White was the most intelligent of the fairy-tale princesses, and her actions in that episode did NOT change my mind, but pretty much reinforced that belief.
It comes on at a terrible time for me, so I’ve only caught it a couple of times – really liked it, though! The last one I watched had the sheriff/huntsman getting killed. Is he really dead?
And that showed me that the writers from LOST who are now writing this haven’t changed much. There was a recurring story element in LOST that whenever one of the Losties reconciled the “big issue” from his/her past, they died. So now . . . are we going to start seeing people dying whenever they remember their previous identity from Fairy Tale Land?
I’m liking this show less and less. Except for Monroe, who I’m liking more and more. And that is just too weird. I’d like to be able to watch the Monroe story line and skip the rest.
I wasn’t crazy about this past week’s story—not one of the strongest as far as the case went—but what a showcase for the main characters’ relationships, especially between Monroe and Nick!
Alcatraz
I’m really enjoying this show—and not just because of the presence of Hurley . . . I mean Jorge Garcia as one of the main characters. I finally realized why this week—it’s the perfect combination of Criminal Minds and LOST.
What season is it where you are? Because here in Nashville, when we should be in the dead of winter, with our coldest temperatures of the year, it’s feeling a lot more like spring (and I’ve been sneezing all day to prove it!).
We are in summer and this weeks hot although today was only mid 90′s but after several days where it didn’t really cool down the house has warmed up. We do have fairly dry heat so that helps.
We have had really mild weather. Right now it is raining…which we need! I just wish I could take the day off and stay in bed. Sigh….alas…I already took a day off last week. Drats!
And then this morning, in KY, it’s 33 and sleeting. We need a big fluffy snow. You know, the kind where they arrest people if they get out on the roads? It makes for nice baking and writing time . . .
I have been watching Jag which I only saw a few episodes of earlier on. we also have McGyver although they are now reshowing what they showed in November. Same with Touched by an Angel.
I can rewatch stargate over and over.
NCIS, hands down. It doesn’t matter if I’ve seen an episode, I WILL watch it. Oh, and “My Fair Wedding.” I have the DVDs to most of “Stargate,” so I just wait for the mood to strike me and then I don’t watch anything else! LOL
This week, I’ve been rewatching Stargate: Atlantis, streaming on Netflix. I used to be a sucker for the I Love the ’80s shows on VH1, but since I’ve removed that channel from my favorites, I don’t know if they still re-run those or not (and I haven’t looked for them on Netflix, either). Any time the Science channel runs episodes of Firefly, I have to watch those (even though I have the series on DVD and could watch without commercials); same with the movie Serenity.
Big Bang and Criminal Minds. I’d watch Cosby more if the commercials on Centric weren’t so odd. And TV Land has Home Improvement, so I’m watching that some again.
THE CLOSER has redeemed itself. I was so mad at them when it ended the previous season when Brenda was being sued in Federal Court. This is my favorite series program. And, they are going to have another season, even after they were supposed to close it down before the last one. They’ve got a good thing going and should stick with it.
She’s not a favorite (I’ve only seen her in one movie), but I thought Jessica Chastain did a very good job as Celia Foote in The Help. The book was WAY better than the movie, but she was a highlight.
KARL URBAN. Mostly because I own more movies with him in them than I do with ODED FEHR in them, so that’s the only reason KU edges out the sexiest man in the universe.
Probably, if my teenage daughter has anything to do with it. Although we actually enjoy the Emmy’s better, since we’re more invested in TV than movies. Should be interesting, though, since a silent movie is one of the nominees.
I’ll usually flip back and forth, trying to catch the big awards categories—but mainly I’ll follow online. I follow a couple of entertainment sites that live-blog and post the winners as soon as they’re announced. That way I don’t have to deal with the inane banter from the host(s) or the boring acceptance speeches.
My name is Roberta Gallant. I live in Concord, New Hampshire.
Watching the Academy Awards on television does not interest me.
I have see them so many times before. The Academy Awards
bore me now. Why do famous, not average citizens, receive
awards for excellencies? The Academy Awards’ management
discriminates against average people.
My favorite kid actor/actress was definitely Shirley Temple. I wanted to be Shirley Temple. Wanted hair like hers. Wanted to dance and sing and be thought adorable. Took me awhile to get that she was a curly-headed little white girl and I wasn’t.
LOL! Recent TV ads for a collection of her movies has my 6yo singing “Animal Crackers In My Soup”, at least the snippet in the commercial. ‘Course he’s never seen a Shirley Temple movie. Threw me off first time I heard him, not realizing it was because of a commercial. I was wondering where in the world he’d picked that up!
Seen any good movies lately?
Extraordinary Measures – based on a true story
“Beauty and the Beast” in 3-D.
Only movie I’ve seen in MONTHS, and it was the one my 17-year-old HAD to watch for her birthday. I don’t think it was based on a true story . . .

War Horse. Incredible!
Joyful Noise. Queen Latifah was fantastic. The music was fun, but I was surprised by some of the other movie content considering it was a movie about a church choir.
Watched “Real Steel” last night and I LOVED IT!
Downton Abbey Season 2—remember, no spoilers if you’ve already seen the whole season or have been watching ahead!
Love it.
Really enjoying this season! some incredible emotion coming off Mary.
Once Upon a Time
we are finally getting this after the tennis or so the previews say not sure which day yet.
you said tennis and I got excited! Have you been to the open?!
Even I cannot believe that I haven’t watched any of this!
The longer it goes, the more I keep reminding myself it’s the Lost guys, it’s the lost guys. Must agree with you, Snow is not as strong as they want to make her. Her daughter is more kick-butt than she is.

Regina, you can catch it any time on Hulu.com. And yes, it looks like it, sadly.
Yep. He’s really dead.

I have a hard time thinking they’d go crazy with the killing people off thing, because then what would be the point? But who knows…
Grimm
Loving it, even the creepy parts. Monroe is the man!
Loved the pig-guy in the mud bath.
Silly Steinbeck based story…
Alcatraz
I’m really enjoying this show—and not just because of the presence of Hurley . . . I mean Jorge Garcia as one of the main characters. I finally realized why this week—it’s the perfect combination of Criminal Minds and LOST.
Did you say Criminal Minds? I might have to check this out. When and where does it air?
Fox on Mondays at 9east/8central. I know the first two episodes (shown back-to-back as the premiere last week) are up on Hulu.
Cool. I’ll take a look.
It’s the same here in Kentucky. I’ve been out without a coat the last two days, and my sinuses are killing me.
We have had really mild weather. Right now it is raining…which we need! I just wish I could take the day off and stay in bed. Sigh….alas…I already took a day off last week. Drats!
If we don’t get a serious cold snap soon, this spring is going to be absolutely awful.
And then this morning, in KY, it’s 33 and sleeting. We need a big fluffy snow. You know, the kind where they arrest people if they get out on the roads?
It makes for nice baking and writing time . . .
Super mild winter in central FL. 80 degrees this week. Had a few cold days, meaning the low was in the 30s and the highs were upper 50s.
It has kind of been varying here in N.C. warm one day cold the next.
Spring-like here in central AR. I even have flowers blooming in the front yard, small daffodil looking flowers. Weird.
Re-Watch TV
What are some shows/episodes or movies that you absolutely must watch whenever you flip past them on the TV?
I have been watching Jag which I only saw a few episodes of earlier on. we also have McGyver although they are now reshowing what they showed in November. Same with Touched by an Angel.
I can rewatch stargate over and over.
NCIS, hands down. It doesn’t matter if I’ve seen an episode, I WILL watch it. Oh, and “My Fair Wedding.”

Any time the Science channel runs episodes of Firefly, I have to watch those (even though I have the series on DVD and could watch without commercials); same with the movie Serenity.
My Dad has been watching “Stargate: Atlantis” lately on Netflix as well. I watch it to. Its very interesting.
Watch out for the Wraith!!!
Living Single. The Cosby Show. Does Law & Order count? (the original series) I wonder because it’s difficult to avoid those re-runs.
We don’t have a T.V. we get them by the season on DVD.
Big Bang and Criminal Minds. I’d watch Cosby more if the commercials on Centric weren’t so odd. And TV Land has Home Improvement, so I’m watching that some again.
We hardly get any stations so when I watch something broadcast it’s intentional. And rare.
THE CLOSER has redeemed itself. I was so mad at them when it ended the previous season when Brenda was being sued in Federal Court. This is my favorite series program. And, they are going to have another season, even after they were supposed to close it down before the last one. They’ve got a good thing going and should stick with it.
Oh, I love The Closer too. Hate that this is supposed to be the final season.
FRIENDS!
Most episodes still make me laugh out loud.
Who’s your favorite actress? (living or dead, modern or classic)
Audrey Hepburn. “Sabrina,” “Charade,” etc. . . .
And I’m the other Hepburn—Katharine.
I’m with you, Kaye. Loved Kate.
But my favorite might be Doris Day.
I love Doris Day Movies!
She’s not a favorite (I’ve only seen her in one movie), but I thought Jessica Chastain did a very good job as Celia Foote in The Help. The book was WAY better than the movie, but she was a highlight.
Who’s your favorite actor? (living or dead, modern or classic)
Cary Grant. Is it any wonder that “Charade” is one of my favorite movies?
Tommy Lee Jones.
KARL URBAN. Mostly because I own more movies with him in them than I do with ODED FEHR in them, so that’s the only reason KU edges out the sexiest man in the universe.
This is so cliched, but it’s Denzel Washington. (Used to be Fred Astaire.)
Cary Grant! And then Tobey Maguire.
James Stewart and
David Niven (his expressions make me laugh).
Will you watch the Academy Awards?
Probably, if my teenage daughter has anything to do with it. Although we actually enjoy the Emmy’s better, since we’re more invested in TV than movies. Should be interesting, though, since a silent movie is one of the nominees.
nope

No. If anything, I’ll tune in towards the end of the big awards — Best actor, actress, and film.
No, I’ll just read about it in the paper.
No. I check out the winners online the next day. Maybe.

Who is your favorite kid actor (boy and girl)
Shirley Temple and Ronnie Howard
Definitely cute anyway.
Mine used to be Haley Joel Osment. But then he grew up.
Mine was Dakota Fanning, but she grew up too…
Hayley Mills.
