It’s Royal Wedding Week!
Are you getting up at (or staying up until) three or four o’clock in the morning to watch the wedding?
For those of you who are old enough to remember, did you watch Charles & Diana’s wedding? I got up very early with my sister and our oldest cousin, Noelle, to watch the wedding while we were staying at our grandparents’ house in Baton Rouge.
being an aussie its getting exciting. Unfortunately I have to go out Friday night but I will see some before I leave and tape the rest.
Yes I watched Charles and Diana’s it was so cool didn’t have colour tv then so it was in black and white. The first one I remember was princess Anne’s.
For Andrew and Fergie the neighbours invited me as they had colour tv.
I’ll turn on the youtube station when I get to the computer, about 5:08AM, and leave it on, but I’ll only watch in snatches. Fridays are my busiest mornings. Better write a note to remind myself though!
I’m committed! Coverage starts at 3:00 a.m. here but the Royals don’t arrive until around 5:00-5:30 so I might just get up then. Trying to get at least the morning off so I can watch it. Otherwise I’ll catch it on repeats sometime through the day. I predict a flurry of interest in romance novels set in England as a result of the wedding. What do you think?
Considering that’s where the series I have out on proposal right now is set, I sincerely HOPE SO!
You’re a Guest at a Royal Wedding–What Will You Wear?
Only unlike the real royal wedding this week, our online wedding is a historical wedding—a formal historical wedding. Here are some sites where you can find your attire:
The Met Museum (results for “House of Worth”)
The Met Museum (results for “ball gown”)
19th Century Fashions
Enchanted Serenity’s Fashion Galleries
The Victoria & Albert Museum
Rossetti (period reproductions/interpretations)
Or your favorite costuming site!
I’m going to an Edwardian wedding as a guest dressed in this:

Oooh! That’s gorgeous!
Newbie question … how do you get the picture to show up like that? =)
I think I will wear this dress

Beautiful . . . I think we’re going to weddings with the same color scheme!
I think so too. I do love Blue
To post an image in comments:
Upload your image (60K or less in size) to somewhere on the web (like Flickr or Photobucket) or copy the image’s web address.
To display the image inside the posted message:

So mine above looks like this:

(I had to insert them as images, because there was no way I could type the characters in without WP reading it as an attempt to insert an image.)
You need to make sure that the image isn’t too large–about 300 pixels wide is right for the size of these comment boxes.
Thanks for answering my question –I’ll have to remember that. =)
That one was on my short-list!
Thanks for fixing that! There are some great choices…I’ll probably change my mind in 5 minutes. LOL
What’s Your Royal Wedding Guest Name?
If you’re going to attend a royal wedding, you need an aristocratic name. Your title is Lady (or Lord). Your first name is one of your grandparents’ names. Your surname is the name of the county (or parish–note: not countRy but county) in which you currently live, hyphenated with the name of the street you grew up on.
So I am Lady Edith Davidson-Valencia
Oh thats hard we dont have counties and the area is called the Limestone coast or the mid south east.
(my other grand mother was Bertha dont want that name!
Im Lady Sophie Caroline Grieve-Limestone
Mine would be Lady Margaret Augusta-Hart
) Doesn’t sound very diplomatic, does it?
Lady Marie Rutherford-Dawson. I like it.
The counties in Middle Tennessee just lend themselves to this kind of thing, dontcha think?
So, so true!
I am Lady Lydia Shelby-Royal (had to shorten the street name–I grew up on Port Royal Dr).
Lady Alma Graves-Wildcat. Another version of this had you use the name of your first pet in the first hyphenated part. Made for some interesting names!
It’s Tea Time!
No coffee here today—it’s time to raise our pinkies and cozy up to the tea cart. What kind of tea is your cup of tea?
I believe today I’ll be filling my cup with Lady Grey, sweetened—but no milk for me, please.
I’m not much of a tea drinker, but when I do it’s usually raspberry. I much prefer hot chocolate if I’m getting something hot.
For cool, I like a raspberry Italian soda, hold the cream.
If you could travel back in time to attend a royal wedding, which one would you want to attend?
I’m torn between Queen Victoria and Grace Kelly.
I think Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Or if I could go back just a few years it would be Crown Princes Mary and crown Prince Fredrick of Denmark being as Mary is an aussie and it was such a lovely wedding the groom cried which made it even more special.
Queen Victoria, without a doubt! Any of Henry VIII’s run a close second, just for the novelty of it.
I thought of Henry VIII . . . but then there’s the decision to make of whether to go to it knowing what’s going to happen to the bride or not knowing.
Would be ok if it was Jane Seymore not sure how its spelt as she died of natural causes.
