Turnabout’s Fair Play–Cover!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I posted on Twitter and Facebook a week or so ago that Book 3 of The Matchmakers series is available for pre-order on ChristianBook.com and Amazon.com. This morning, it was brought to my attention that the cover image has gone up on Amazon. So I guess it’s gone through final approval at Barbour . . . which means I can post it here:

Jamie O’Connor knows his grandmother Maureen O’Connor has matchmaking on the mind when she starts inviting him to events where single women are present. Realizing she’s somewhat smitten with an older gentleman, Jamie decides to turn the tables on Maureen by agreeing to meet Kirby McNeill’s granddaughter at dinner—with both grandparents there. But will Jamie’s schemes go awry when he meets his match in Flannery McNeill? Flannery is thrilled that her widowed grandfather Kirby “Big Daddy” McNeill is now attending her church. So when he invites her to meet a grandson of a woman from his seniors group, she agrees to go along. Later, as Flannery conspires with Jamie to play matchmaker to Maureen and Kirby, she wonders how long she’ll be able to tolerate spending time with Jamie and his seemingly over-inflated ego. As the juniors scheme to bring their seniors together, mayhem and misconceptions ensue. Will these potential lovers walk away from what may be their last chance at true romance?

Coming November 2011!

That’s a pretty cool cover. Figuratively and literally…the green is a cool color.

Great cover — the whole series is unique and eye catching. Did you have an input on the style or did they surprise you?

Because we had some issues with the first cover, I searched for stock images that I liked and sent those to the publisher along with my cover questionnaire. They surprised me by picking from the images I’d chosen and putting them together in such a way that I couldn’t be happier!

This plot sounds great and I like how you have given Jamie what seems to be an “over-inflated” ego! There are people like that in real life and he doesn’t seem to have the carbon copy personality of generic Christian romance books. It also certainly doesn’t hurt the story any to have grandpa be John Wayne! :) That is a very neat cover and I cannot wait to read the book. Until then we have the joy of reading TAOR in May!

Oh, by the way. Have you seen the cover yet of Ransome’s Quest? I haven’t, but wonder if they have given you any samples yet.

I have not seen any comps for RQ yet. They sent me a questionnaire to fill out for it, but with trying to get ART finished, I haven’t had a chance to turn my mind to it.

I’m finishing up my edits on ART today and will start edits on RQ tomorrow!

I noticed on your Facebook page that you have another guy’s picture for Jamie next to the stockphoto cover image. Did you decide not to use this guy?

I did decide not to use Sean Patrick Flannery—partially because he doesn’t look anything like the stock photo I ended up picking, and partially because he isn’t actively acting in anything I can watch him in. And the most recent role he played (at the right age for this character, which the Young Indiana Jones definitely is not), he was the villain of the show. So, since I have Alex O’Loughlin readily at hand, and since he looks a lot like the guy in the stock image, and because I really just started brainstorming Jamie’s character this weekend (with that stock image in mind), it was better to recast him.

Just to let you know people are reading your books! I just checked the online card catalog for our local public library and all of your books except one are checked out right now! Also, my copy of SIG arrived in the mail today. The first time I read it was from the public library. After that I automatically purchased all your new books. Well, I did win a couple in that giveaway that you had several months ago. Anyway, I finally got around to ordering the first book, so now I have all of them. I will definitely be purchasing the next three when they come out this year. :)

I have to agree with Jason about the green and I love the ‘theme’ running through your covers. All the best with Turnabout’s Fair Play.
