I watched Dancing With The Stars, Bones, CASTLE!!!!!, and I caught the very last part of No Ordinary Family. I got busy with MY NEW KINDLE!!!!!! and forgot to turn on the TV! My niece, a law student who I know must be dirt poor, sent me Kindle for a belated birthday present. I was floored. But oh my goodness, I LOVE it! Between the new shows and my Kindle, I will be hard pressed to get any writing done!
I’ve got to watch this week’s episode of Castle–I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I considered purchasing a Kindle with this last book advance, but after doing the research, and realizing I’d really only be using it as a much smaller/more portable way to check e-mail when traveling (because I have a couple of dozen books—mostly free downloads—on my Kindle for PC app on the computer that I haven’t yet read and probably wouldn’t read even with the more portable Kindle device.
Sounds like you need an iPhone. You can have EVERYTHING with that!
I’ve watched Chuck, Castle, and Bones (of course!). I discovered yesterday that CBS is making episodes of Hawaii Five-O available On Demand a week after they air, so I’m planning on checking that out. I also watched The Undercovers pilot and LOVED it, lots of fun, and yesterday I watched No Ordinary Family which was cute, kind of a live action Incredibles. I enjoyed it enough that I’ll try to check out 2 or 3 more episodes to see where they are taking the show.
I decided Hawaii Five-O is a No for me. Too violent. Too bad.
UNDERCOVERS gets a second ep watch at least. THE EVENT gets a third. CASTLE and CHUCK, I’m in for the long haul with those two.
Not sure when I’ll get around to Hawaii Five-O, but I’ll let you know what I think. The Undercovers pilot impressed me way more than I expected, so it gets another few episodes to give me a better idea of how the season will unfold.
About Castle – loved the thing with his name in this week’s ep.
I’m really enjoying Hawaii Five-O, just finished watching Season 3 of Chuck and about to find the first two episodes of this season online so I can be completely caught up today!
Woo-hoo, the Chuck discussions can really get going!
Oh, and I am super excited about the return of Human Target THIS FRIDAY!!! Woo-hoo!!
So soon? That’s nice.
Actually, I spoke too soon…Fox announced today that they are moving Human Target to Wednesdays and delaying the premiere till 11/17. Happy about the move back to its original night, not so happy about the delay.
Fox is shuffling because they’ve just canceled Lone Star after only two episodes.
I am so far behind….Soccer kept me from CASTLE this week (I know, I can’t believe it, either), I haven’t been keeping up with CHUCK, I DID watch NCIS, and I’ve seen parts 1 and 2 of TIN MAN this week.
Oh, and did I mention my laptop has DIED? So much for cutting 6,000 words from a manuscript, huh? May I request prayer for the Geek Squad?
This sounds like a job for the Nerd Herd! (If only!)
I have been bored so far with new stuff…/The Event a disappointment, , hate DWTS (boring!)
Love Good Wife, both NCIS shows. Of course I am faithful to Chuck, loyalty to son who works on show. Missed Castle. Caught some of Glee.
Your SON WORKS ON CHUCK?!?! I am so jealous right now…
What Ruth said! Cool. I keep hearing it’s a great set to work on.
Windows 7 is now installed on my computer and I love it. Kaye, you should like it there’s a virtual sticky note option. You can choose different colors, type what you want on it, and it shows up on your desktop! One can move it around on the desktop also. The font is supposed to look like you have handwritten the note. Right now I have three notes on my desktop. One is blue and the others are purple.
I noticed a few weeks ago you said something about watching “Our Mutual Friend” for research for your new series. Did you see it? I’ve seen it three times maybe. I’m not sure. I really liked it. Dickens has so many layers and plots that appear to be seperate, but eventually all wind up connecting.
Oh, I’ve had it on DVD for a couple of years and have watched it several times. I pulled it out when I was working on my early Victorian series proposal, just for a little inspiration. It’s not my favorite—I much prefer Bleak House.
A couple of days ago I re-watched “The Taming of the Shrew” for the third time starring Elisabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Does anyone know if there is a good fiction book out there that is a modern re-telling of this story?
The only Taming of the Shrew adaptations that I can think of are other films – 10 Things I Hate About You and the film in the ShakespeaRe-Told film series from the BBC. I love the Taylor/Burton movie too!
Oh, I was particularly meaning fiction books that are a modern re-telling of “The Taming of the Shrew”. I have seen the Shakespeare RE-Told film of this and don’t plan on re-watching it. The language was quite filthy among other things. I thought they had a great way of modernizing it, but as a Christian I don’t think it’s the kind of film I should be watching.
I’ll be curious if anyone comes up with any book retellings.
Just checking in on you! Let me know how you are doing.
Hey, girl–
Sorry I’ve been so out of touch recently. That will hopefully change after October 15. So be looking at the calendar for a few dates when we can meet up for lunch in late October/early November!
I’ve been working on sewing projects…reproducing a miniature of the “Think of Me” gown from “Phantom of the Opera”…it ended up being a *lot* more difficult than I anticipated!!!! :-/ Still, it’s been fun and I’m just finishing it up, hallelujah.
I used to sew most of my own clothes, but when I went back to school to finish my degrees, I had to put the sewing machine away. I still have it—it’s the one my mom got when she got married 45 years ago!
Random thought…have YOU thought about writing a book on writing, Kaye? Here I am again back in your archives. Just saying….
I have, but most of what I’ve shared comes from other people’s books. Maybe in about fifteen or twenty years, when I feel like I know a little more about it.
