Open Mic Wednesday–The “CASTLE and LOST were reruns this week so what else is there to talk about?” Edition

Okay, folks, both Castle and Lost were reruns this week. I don’t watch many other shows that the rest of you watch (Amazing Race or Vampire Diaries anyone?), so let’s figure out something else to talk this week, ’kay?
Try this. Click on this link and copy the “what if” question that appears and write a paragraph or two. If you don’t like any of those, try this story-starter generator. Or pick one of the following lines to begin your comment with (and whatever you write following it can be truth or fiction—and you can indicate which it is or not as you choose):
- I knew it was going to be a strange day when I opened my closet and found . . .
- I wasn’t sure if I should believe my best friend when she told me . . .
- As soon as I saw the goats, sheep, and chickens, I knew . . .
- A loud knocking awakened me in the middle of the night. I went to the door and . . .

As soon as I saw the goats, sheep, and chickens, I knew I was driving right into the heart of Crittenden County, Kentucky’s Amish Country. And there I was, yesterday, about to deliver twelve pizzas to a riverside park, where thirty-one cold and hungry high school seniors were stopping on their day-long local field trip to Mantle Rock, the local history museum, and the Amish community.
The only trouble was, it was about fifty degrees and rainy yesterday.
For once those kids didn’t mind a four-mile hike to an outcropping of rock that actually sheltered the Native Americans who were traveling the Trail of Tears so long ago. Oh, and those same kids devoured twelve pizzas in less than fifteen minutes . . . then were more than ready to get back on the bus!
That was the highlight of my day yesterday. I had to go to an event last night and was chomping at the bit to get home, only to find out, once I got there, that LOST was a RERUN!!! Ack.
So what did YOU do yesterday?
Got some marketing stuff done and then dug into getting some Genesis entries judged.
Need to do that today, but just found out something that is going to make it pretty hard for me to concentrate. And I probably won’t be able to share until Friday.
Praying for you, Kaye.
Didn’t mean to make it sound dire. It’s actually really, really, really, good news.
OK, then I’ll pray for you to be able to CONCENTRATE! Glad it’s not dire!
Just added a new book signing event to the Appearances page–Saturday, July 17, in Charleston, SC.
(off the subject) Today is my last day of student teaching as a speech intern. I am glad to be done but really enjoyed my experience..and I don’t think I said I passed the Praxis for Speech therapy…yay. Anyway, being a speech therapist and writing IEP’s I have come to wish I was a writer and appreciate those who write all of the time. It would be so much easier if it was a more natural thing for me.
Hey, this is just a thought…you should do a signing in Williamsburg (VA) this summer. Another writer told me that the BN staff is really nice about signings and there are always tourists coming through, so you actually sell a lot of books. And she didn’t even write historicals, so I imagine yours would do even better. But I know it’s a little far for you.
So, your big news–business or personal?
