I think it comes from having spent two or three years teaching 7th and 8th grade Sunday School. I was always looking for ways I could help them understand big concepts in a concrete way. I guess it just stuck with me because I can’t help but use them when I’m teaching now!

For me, drinking wine is very much like reading for enjoyment. I think about whether or not it tastes good and that’s about it!

Obviously I’m not a connoisseur. Great analogy, and the first date analogy too. Chapter titles bug me because I’d rather be surprised by what’s in the chapter than have a hint. I think I really have to choose the book I want to analyze very carefully because it looks like we’ll spend lots of time together.
