Speaking of window coverings . . . I "made" my own curtains for my bedroom, office (small second bedroom), and living room--out of tablecloths. They're just the right width and length for my windows and to drape all the way to the floor (7 foot cloths, 8 foot ceilings with the decorative curtain rods 1 foot from the ceiling, obviously) and they were each only $5 at Target. I got the clip-style loops to attach them to the rods, so no measuring, no sewing involved! Then, I bought table runners to use as decorative scarves over the rods at the top! Six windows for about $60!

Uh-oh, I never realized I was allowing people to peek into my windows. Eek! It's so revealing, but true! But speaking literally, I do so love windows and window coverings. (Not that mine are anything special, but still.) They can totally make the home, and you're right about a home with small windows. Blech. And I like to have a solid picture in mind when writing a character's house/apartment/living space. Makes it all too real.

I love windows too, both in my house and windows into other worlds. I've always been a reader/dreamer, worlds away when involved in a book. I hope I never lose that.
